Born in 1948 , Gabby started writing songs at age six.

He won his first National Calypso competition at age 19 and went to on to win 9 National Calypso Crowns and two Road March Titles, Writing several other Road March songs for winners Grynner and Ras iley including the Mega Hits MR.T( Grynner ) and INEZ( Ras iley ).

He has won Folk Singer Of the Year three times and has penned songs for more than a hundred other Barbadian artistes.

He is the recipient of many National Awards including the Most Honorable, the country's highest award.

He has been honoured by the Cuban and Venezuelan Governments, as well as the Cities of Boston and New York .

He had been awarded the Clement Payne Hero Award and is an Honorary Distinguish Fellow, Humanities Scholar and Doctor of Letters at the University Of The West Indies.

The Most Honorable Anthony Gabby Carter is also a Justice of The Peace since 1991.

He has written a record two thousand poems in under five years from August 2017 to April 2022.

Gabby also has two books; one an autobiography and one book of poetry.
